Here is how it works:
1) BUY - Donate and earn bottles - the more you donate, the more you earn.
2) RACE - The bottles you earn through donations will be dropped in the river for the race on race day - you can customize your bottles for advantage on race day. The starting gate is lifted and bottles race down the river. See rules below for race details.
3) WIN - The top 25 bottles that cross the finish line win - the first bottle to cross wins the grand prize.
Its that easy! 100% of all proceeds benefit local veteran's charities and causes.
The Whiskey River Race rules are simple, easy to follow, and fun. We offer something very unique - you can modify your bottles before the race. This means that skill is involved in improving your chances of winning. Read more about how to participate and win below.
Getting started and the rules for participation.
By making a donation to the Veterans Whiskey Society for the Whiskey River Race, you earn bottles to enter in the race, depending on the amount of your donation. A valid name, phone number, and e-mail address is required to process your race registration for prize distribution. Once you complete your donation and payment is received, the Veterans Whiskey Society will set the bottles you register for entry into the race aside and assign them to you (with your name and a code) at race check-in.
Select the number of bottles and check out. There is no maximum for the amount of bottles you may register for entry into the Whiskey River Race. You will receive free bottles for larger donations.
Individual
1 bottle, $50
5 bottles, $200 (1 free bottle)
10 bottles, $350 (3 free bottles)

50 bottles, $1,500 (20 free bottles)
100 bottles, $2,500 (50 free bottles)

The bottles we set aside to fulfill your race registration will all be the same size, weight, clarity, and shape. A Whiskey River Race label will be affixed to the bottle for official identification. Bottles are not full size (750mL) nor are they glass to ensure bottles don't break in the race waterway. Bottle specifics will be ann. The bottles will be registered to you with a code that is appended to the bottle and a registration inside to ensure bottles are not mixed or altered on race day.
The Whiskey River Race includes a skill competition and offers a unique opportunity to modify your registered bottles on race day. To qualify, you must have a registered bottle for the race and be present for a 2 hour window prior to the race to check out the bottles, make modifications, pass race inspection, and check the bottles back in for race entry.
You will have 2 hours to make modifications. Only bottles registered to you may be checked out for modification. A valid ID will be required to check out a registered bottle. You MUST check your bottle out from 1PM-3PM on race day to participate in the bottle battle. If you do not modify your bottle, it will be entered as is. All modified bottles must be checked back in for reentry by 3PM, no exceptions. This means the bottle has passed inspection.
The bottle MUST meet these race standards to qualify for reentry.
1) Individual bottle entries may not be combined for reentry; and
2) No chemicals or contaminates that may adversely impact water ecosystems and waterways used in the race may be used; and
3) No interactive, electronic, or autonomously operated mechanical modifications are permitted; and
4) Bottles must remain afloat and must not take on water; and
5) Bottles may not contain explosive or combustible materials.
If a bottle is selected and checked out for modification, it MUST pass official race inspection before reentry is permitted. Inspection will include the following:
1) The bottle and all modifications MUST fit inside an inspection box which sets a size limit for allowed modifications; and
2) The modified bottle will be tested in water to ensure it floats and does not take on water and meets other race standards; and
3) Inspection discretion is granted for safety and environmental protection.
Once a modified bottle passes inspection during the allotted time, it will be permitted for race reentry. Modified bottles will be placed in launch boxes in combination with other registered entries. All bottles will be launched simultanously into the river and downstream, whether modified or not.
If a bottle fails inspection or is not checked in for race reentry within the allotted modification time, the bottle will be disqualified from the race. The following occurs with disqualifications:
1) The bottle may still be entered into the Bottle Battle award categories for judging; and
2) The disqualified bottle will not be entered into the race; and
3) Replacement bottles for entry will not be provided without additional registrations.
Special awards will be given for creativity, feats of engineering, and other categories for the Whiskey Bottle Battle.
The Veterans Whiskey Society will establish the race course (start and finish). Gates will also be provided by the Veterans Whiskey Society. All qualifying and registered bottles will be launched into Plum Creek behind the start gate at approximately 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 16, 2024, during the Father's Day car show. If weather or other conflicts or circumstances arise that may impeded, delay, or postpone race times, the race will be rescheduled at the discretion of the Veterans Whiskey Society
All bottles registered for the race and not disqualified, will be entered into the race. All bottles entered into the race will be qualified for entry prior to launch and will, at all times, remain the property of the Whiskey River Race sponsor prior to, upon launch, during the race, and following the race. The sponsor may elect to give bottles to participants following the race mas souvenirs.
All bottles entered into the race, and not disqualified, will be launched into Plum Creek behind the starting gate. No preference or order for launch will be given for bottles without specific position donations. Bottles will be launched from boxes/bins by last name, registration codes, or other criteria such as date of entry. Race launch volunteers will not have access to registered names associated with bottle codes nor registrations within closed bottles.
A Position Advantage bin will be allocated for bottles with an appended position advantage donation to the bottle prior to entry into the race. This means that this bin will drop into the water behind the starting gate prior to the other bins dropping. Position advantage can be awarded by the race sponsor to veterans and active service members for free or earned through additional donations to already registered bottles.
Bottle position advantage can be earned by swapping 2 registered and qualified race bottles for 1 position advantage bottle or doubling the donation for already earned and registered bottles. A Position advantage sticker will be affixed to the bottle once advantage is verified and it will be placed in advantage bins for early release behind the starting gate. Position advantage does not guarantee that the bottle will remain in position nor in the front of the race upon start. No guarantees.
The starting gate is constructed to allow for water flow while containing race bottles behind the barrier. The following release standards will be observed during starting gate release:
1) The starting gate will be released at 4PM on June 16, 2024; and
2) The gate lifted in synchronization on both sides at the same time; and
3) The starting gate will be released as quickly and fairly as possible; and
4) If the gate impedes bottles, race supervisors will attempt to return these to the race.
Once the starting gate is lifted, the race is active and no-one from the public, participants in the race, nor any other interactive means be employed to interact with, touch, interfere, block, or otherwise impede the race course or bottles in the race. Only race supervisors are permitted interact with the race course or bottles in the race. Any interference in the race or with the race course during the race will result in disqualification. The race may be restarted at the sponsor's discretion
The finish line will be established in the following manner:
1) Stakes with a string across the waterway will establish the finish line with finish gates (traps) set behind the official finish line; and
3) The top 25 will be stopped by the finish gate; and
4) A secondary finish gate will be dropped in to trap the remaining bottles in the race after the top 25 are trapped; and
5) Any ties will be resolved with photo finishes, drawings, or race offs.
Cheating is not permitted. Discretion for adjudicating reports and/or observations that may be reasonably perceived as cheating is granted to race supervisors and race officials. The race course will be monitored by drones overhead and any attempts to interfere or gain advantage outside of race rules will be subject to inquiry and official review.
Some bottles may not finish the race. The official race time is 30 minutes. The race closes at 4:30PM. All bottles that do not cross the finish line within the allotted race time will be disqualified and collected from the race course by race supervisors and authorized personnel.
Grand Prize, Top 5 Prizes, and Top 25 prizes.
You must be 21 years of age to win prizes awarded from performance in the race. If the race winner is not 21 years of age, the prize may be deferred and awarded to a legal parent or guardian.
The bottle and participant must not be disqualified to be awarded prizes.
The prize may only be awarded to registered race participant and may not be proxied or picked up by others.
All prizes will have a cash value associated. Each winner bears the responsibility for paying any and all taxes and similar fees on any prize(s) won or awarded at the Whiskey River Race and must authorize the deduction of such taxes, if any, from the prize(s) to the extent required by law.
Chances of winning do not solely depend on the total number of qualified race entries. Skill is permitted by allowing for the modification of bottles. Improve your chances, get creative.
As a race winner, you grant the sponsors and partners of the race the license to use your name and any pictures or media associated with the race or your prizes and awards, without further compensation.
You do not need to be present to win Grand Prize or Top 5 Prize categories. However, you may need to make arrangements to pick up prizes locally due to restrictions shipping alcohol. You will need to be present to win top 25 awards.
